Episode 337: 2020 NFL Combine Preview

Paul & Matt preview the 2020 NFL Combine. Paul starts out the show discussing the merits of the NFL Combine and how he uses it in his evaluation process and what he is looking for over the four days of the event. He discusses some of the changes the Combine has made and how it has became more of an event for television. 

Paul then starts going through the offensive skill positions and what prospects he is looking forward to seeing work out or get their actual measurements. He starts by discussing the quarterbacks and running backs and what he is looking forward to seeing or hearing from the combine in reference to those positions. 

Next, Paul starts discussing the wide receivers and how he hops the Combine helps him sort out some of his tiers because of how many skilled wide receivers there is in this draft class. During the wide receiver discussion, Matt joins the show and talks about what he is looking forward to seeing with the receiver group. In addition, Matt discusses the new changes to the Combine and he thinks they missed out on an opportunity to truly change the event for the better. Paul and Matt then go back and forth discussing the changes and how they each use the combine in different ways. They also discuss some of the measurements that came out from the first day of the Combine. To close out the show they discuss the tight end position and what prospects they want to see work out and question whether any tight end can separate themselves from the group.

Episode 336: 2020 Quarterback Tiers

Paul and Matt conclude the 2020 Tier Buster Series with the Quarterback class. They discuss what traits, characteristics, NFL Role, Draft Projection, and Dynasty Rookie Draft Projection make up their four unique tiers.

Following that, they discuss 20 prospects, putting them into the four different tiers. They go into detail on many of these prospects and discuss their traits, developmental areas and overall upside. Some of the quarterbacks discussed in great detail include Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa, Justin Herbert, Jordan Love, Jake Fromm, Jalen Hurts, Cole McDonald, Anthony Gordon, Shea Patterson, James Morgan and Jake Luton. 

Episode 335: 2020 Tight End Tiers

Paul and Matt continue the 2020 Tier Buster Series with the Tight End class. They start the show by discussing the position as a whole, how hard the position is to evaluate at the collegiate level and how it is a unique class with good depth but not a great class due to the lack of top end talent like last year or the Evan Engram, O.J. Howard & David Njoku draft class. 

Next, they discuss what traits, characteristics, NFL Role, Draft Projection, and Dynasty Rookie Draft Projection make up their four tiers. Following that, they discuss 18 prospects, putting them into the four different tiers. They go into detail on many of these prospects and discuss how every evaluator and NFL team may view these prospects very differently based on body type, role and immediate or long term upside.

Episode 334: 2020 Running Back Tiers

Paul and Matt continue  their Tier Buster Series with the 2020 Running Back class. They start the show by discussing the position as a whole and how it is a good class but not a great class due to the three running backs that decided to return to college and because their is no talent on a level of Saquon Barkley or Ezekial Elliot.

Next, they discuss what traits, characteristics, NFL Role, Draft Projection, and Dynasty Rookie Draft Projection make up their five tiers. Following that, they discuss over 30 prospects, putting them into the five different tiers. They go into detail on many of these prospects and discuss how it is easy to group running backs inside of the different tiers based on style of play and what an NFL team may be looking for. 

They close out the show by discussing a handful of players that they expect to outperform expectations and they would be trying to get on their teams. 

Episode 333: 2020 Wide Receiver Tiers

Paul and Matt kick off the Tier Buster Series with the 2020 Wide Receiver class. They start the show by discussing their tiers and how with months to go in the pre draft process some prospects will move up and down within tiers and others will move up or down into different tiers as we get more data points including access to more film, the NFL Combine and Pro Days. 

Next, they discuss what traits, characteristics, NFL Role, Draft Projection, and Dynasty Rookie Draft Projection make up their five tiers. Following that, they discuss over 35 prospects, putting them into the five different tiers. They go in detail on many of these prospects and discuss how it is easy to group receivers inside of the different tiers based on style of play. 

They close out the show by discussing a handful of players that they expect to outperform expectations and some players they think could jump up into higher tiers. 

 

Episode 332: Senior Bowl Stock Report

Paul starts out the show discussing his thoughts on the tragic news of Kobe Bryant, his daughter and seven others passing away this past weekend from the helicopter crash. Paul discusses Kobe and how he will remember him. 

In the next segment Paul discusses his thoughts on the Senior Bowl. He recaps the coverage he saw of the practices and what he saw in the game with a Senior Bowl Stock Report. He goes through every offensive skill player and states whether there stock is up, down or neutral. He discusses the draft range for many of the prospects and who helped themselves out at the Senior Bowl, who hurt themselves and whose value stayed somewhat similar. 

Episode 331: Senior Bowl Preview

Paul and Matt start the show by recapping the 2020 East West Shrine Bowl. They talk about some prospects that showed out during the game and from some of the practice reports and practice videos that were available. Some of the prospects discussed included James Morgan of FIU, James Robinson of Illinois State, Tavien Feaster of South Carolina, Adrian Killins Jr. of UCF, Benny LeMay of Charlotte, John Hightower of Boise State, Binjimin Victor of Ohio State and Juwan Johnson of Oregon and others. 

Next, the guys preview the 2020 Senior Bowl and discuss some of the early practice reports. They share their thoughts on every single offensive skill player down in Mobile to provide you a snapshot of the prospect and how they win. 

Episode 330: East West Shrine Bowl Preview

Paul and Matt start the show discussing the National Championship Game from Monday night. The guys discuss Joe Burrow, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Thaddeus Moss, and the looming decisions of Tee Higgins and Travis Etienne on whether or not they will turn pro. 

The rest of the show Paul and Matt preview the 2020 East West Shrine Bowl. They discuss the quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers and tight ends. They share some notes or traits on every prospect with a more detailed discussion on the top prospects in attendance.
